Amongst the most valuable types of Mahjong tiles are enrobed tiles. These are bakelite or catalin tiles that have lighter inside "enrobed" in different-color (usually darker) frame. These look absolutely gorgeous and nobody makes anything like that anymore, so the only way to get Mahjong tiles with this kind of two tone look is to find an old vintage set.
Actually, that's quite strange, come to think of it. Two- or three tone sets that have white front and colorful back or two different-colored layers are really common in plastic sets, I wonder why nobody does these kind of framed tiles. I suppose it's that much harder to make. I'm sure there would be plenty of potential buyers for modern, cheaper enrobed tiles, as many want these sets because they look really cool, not because they're super valuable.
However, these sets are both rare and desired, which means they are very expensive. Finding complete enrobed sets is difficult, and those are really, really expensive. If you want a two-tone set, have patience and start saving money.
